Recorded live during an improvised after-hours "rehearsal" at {open} (144 Linden location), Long Beach, CA, May 4, 2006. Intense Situations of Peril premiered Torreyana at Spring Reverb, May 7, 2006, and performed the piece again on May 9 at {open} (both performances entirely improvised).

For Torreyana, ISOP reviewed Steven Soderbergh's Traffic as inspiration, along with field recordings and other raw data collected in and around San Diego, California.

On January 15, 2009, ISOP revisited Torreyana in a live improvised performance at {open}, as part of the 3rd Thursday series. Participants included Glenn Bach, shea M gauer, Lewis Keller, Jorge Martin, Joseph Richard Negro, scott A peterson, Michael Raco-Rands, Marco Schindelmann, and Noah Thomas. The failed recordings of the evening's performances inspired Bach to initiate a new ISOP offshoot project, Flor de Muerto, using the faulty recordings and original working files as raw material. With participants Bach, Negro, Raco-Rands, and Schindelmann, Flor de Muerto premieres October 2009 on MPRNTBL.

Intense Situations of Peril is an improvising ensemble of electronic/laptop musicians who perform new, hybridized soundtracks to the cities in which they perform. Source material sampled from the audio track of a mainstream motion picture filmed in a particular city is collaged with raw audiovisual data collected on location. With a fluctuating roster of touring and local musicians and video artists, the ensemble will sample and manipulate the city's source material, improvising a completely unrehearsed image stream and soundscape, a one-of-a-kind audiovisual remix of place.
